Kirtan is the congregational chanting of the names of Divinity; transcendental sound vibrations that reawaken the inherent nature of the soul. Kirtan is a process of purifying or filtering the consciousness, and it is one of the primary practices in Bhakti Yoga (the Yoga of Love & Devotion). It’s goal? As our spiritual teachers taught, is to learn how to love, connect to divine love, and be instruments of that divine love in our lives.
What you’ll experience:
The art & science of kirtan—what it is, why it heals, and how it transforms
Learn to play harmonium & kartals (hand cymbals) with ease and devotion
Build rhythm, confidence, and steadiness in leading & following kirtans
Be supported through both group practice & personal 1:1 guidance
Discover your unique voice and how to let it shine as an offering of love
Weekend Flow:
November 14th | Friday Evening 6:30-8:30pm
November 15th | Saturday 10:00am-4:00pm (with 1 hour break for lunch)
November 16th | Sunday 9:00am-3:00pm (with 1 hour break for lunch)
About Your Guides:
Kishori:
- 5 years of leading kirtan experience; including 1-on-1 intensive Kirtan study, attending 2 Kirtan Academy’s and Assisting in a Kirtan Training in India
- A study & teacher of Bhakti Yoga, asana teacher, energy healer, and end of life doula
- Trained in kartals and harmonium
Shamya:
- 18 years kirtan experience, including 9 years of ashram life with daily kirtan programs
- A student & teacher of the philosophy of Krishna's names and kirtan
-Trained in kartals, mrdanga and harmonium, as well as Western music theory
