Connect with the roots of yoga through sound!
Sanskrit is the sacred language of yoga — a living vibration that carries the essence of its philosophy and practice. More than words, it is sound as prayer, language as devotion.
In this 75 minute workshop, Shamya draws from the Bhagavad Gita to offer a practical introduction to the grandmother of ancient languages, designed specifically for yoga practitioners, teachers, and seekers of spiritual depth. Attendees will learn about words for anatomy and nature found in asana names, but the workshop goes beyond memorization and pronunciation — it reveals how Sanskrit embodies the philosophy and heart of the yoga tradition.
Through guided practice and discussion, you’ll:
Learn to pronounce and chant sacred names and mantras
Explore the meaning behind common yoga terms
Discover the Sanskrit roots of English and other modern languages
Experience how sound can deepen awareness and devotion in practice
Perfect for curious yogis looking to invite more meaning, clarity, and inspiration into their practice.
